We are still reeling from the successful release party for ‘The Daredevil Kid’ at The Ironwood Stage and Grill. It was a great night and a near capacity crowd! Not bad for a Tuesday in August. A big thanks to all who came out to support us and Pat and the staff at The ironwood! Our good friends at CKUA (Tom Coxworth and Allison Brock) and the CBC The Eyeopener (David Gray and Angela Knight) gave us a much appreciated shout out that definitely brought out some new fans. The Taurino Band that backs me up and consists of Ben Tagseth on electric and baritone guitar, Orlando Agostino on acoustic and electric guitar, Mark Williams on stand up and electric bass, Curt Rock on the drums and Steve Wright on the mandolin, definitely brought it! A big thanks to them as well! Ive been busy stuffing envelopes and doing mail outs to all the Americana stations in Canada, the US, Europe and Australia, review writers, bloggers and music publications. Hopefully I’ll get to share some reviews with you all very soon. The Alternate Root Magazine, said some really nice things about me and put the video for ‘It Aint Nuthin’ on their website. I’m told a full review of the record is forthcoming. Got a couple of lyric videos in the works and will post them as soon as they are done. We’ve got a couple of local gigs coming up in Calgary and working on booking some out of town stuff. I think its time we took this show on the road! I have to say, I have been waiting a long time to do this, and even though its a ton of hard work, Im still loving every minute of it! I’m still working on putting a Management/Promotions team together so, until then, I will keep on doing the best I can! See you all down the road!

Wow!   What a year!  On August 8, 2014 my new album The Daredevil Kid hit the streets!  Recorded at The Congress House Studio in Austin, Texas and produced by Mark Hallman (Carole King, Ani DiFranco, Tom Russell, Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves).  Featuring guest vocals by Kevin Welch, Kimmie Rhodes, and Gurf Morlix. Kim Deschamps (Cowboy Junkies, Blue Rodeo, Cory Morrow, Walt Wilkins) on pedel steel.  Elana James from Hot Club of Cowtown, on violin. Ben Tagseth on guitar and backing vocals. Andre Moran engineered and added some sweet acoustic slide.  Mark Hallman is an accomplished multi instrumentalist and plays everything else from drums to banjo!   I am so proud of this record!!
I have just returned from Montana where I went down to see my buddy Hayes Carll and hand deliver a copy to him! I attended a songwriters workshop that Hayes put on at the Calgary Folk Fest last year, and he inspired me to write the last song on the record, ‘Against The Skyline’. I was so blessed to have Kevin Welch sing it with me and it placed in the top 3 in the this year’s songwriting contest put on by the Calgary Folk Fest and paid me $500, which I promptly spent on new PA speakers!
The record heads out to Americana Radio this week, let’s hope it gets the attention it deserves!
For better or worse, this is what I do, this is who I am, no excuses, no net and no plan B!
I’m all in!
